First Canon Photos of 2018

Between crazy work schedules and crappy weather it took me a while to get out and take some photos with my EOS M3 this year. I’m looking forward to some warmer weather and longer daylight hours. Today  I just stepped out for about half an hour and snapped some shots of things around my house. I’ve been exhausted by my new work schedule so just getting out and taking some pictures was a pretty big effort today, but I liked how a few of them turned out! I really loved seeing the mist on the river. I think those are my favourites from this little shoot.

1 Second Every Day 2017!

Instead of posting photos for this week, I decided to upload my One Second Every Day video of 2017! I started a separate one for creative projects which I may upload as well. This is a pretty fun project and I’ve really enjoyed doing it these past couple years. It’s fascinating how much I’ll remember about a day it an event from a one second clip.

Forgot to post.

I’ve been feeling stressed this week about work and a lack of hours at my one job, so I forgot to have a post prepared for Wednesday this week. I’ll make up for it by posting some photos on Friday! For now, here’s a link to the newest Nostalgia 91 episode! We watched Cardcaptors. The American one. Spoilers, it kinda sucked.

January 17th Instax Photos

I am a goof and forgot the photos I planned to share in Battleford, so today I resorted to the “Drive around until you find something interesting” method of photography. I drove around Saskatoon in the industrial area near where I work and brought my Instax with me. I happened upon a really cool mural on the side of a cultural events centre, and an old church. I enjoyed the fact that these two sort of contrasting images were basically next door to each other. I love street art and religious architecture, so this was a pretty serendipitous little adventure!img065img065 copy

Photography plans and Podcast

I goofed up my schedule for this week and forgot to set up my scanner so the photos I was planning on sharing are going to wait until next week. For now, I’m going to talk about some of my photography plans for the year! Not exactly an exciting post for the week, but I promise next week will be more interesting.

Not too long ago I had my first payed photography gig and took some photos of a local band at an open mic night. I got 50 bucks and snapped some pictures of them while they performed and now my work is on their Facebook page. It was a pretty small gig but it felt really cool. They were happy enough with the work to let it represent their band on social media and my photo credit went along with it. That night kind of inspired me to pursue photography a bit more. It’s tough to make a living at creative stuff but if I could even make a few bucks here and there at it I would be really excited. So this year I’m going to try to get even better at photography and hopefully get my name out there a bit more. My current work schedule has had me struggling to feel rested so I haven’t gotten out to do much creatively, but I’m hoping now that the holiday season is done I’ll be able to dedicate more of my free time to practicing photography. I want to play around with my EOS M3 and my Instax again. I have really been loving both of those cameras so I’m looking forward to it!

I know this post doesn’t have a ton of substance, and is kind of here just so I can get a post up on a Wednesday. I’m still working on keeping up with my schedule. Thanks for dropping by if you do, and I promise next week will have some photos! For now, check out my podcast that I always forget to mention here! We finished a full viewing of Cybersix last week. It was a ton of fun!

New Year’s Resolutions

I’m one of those dorks who decides to make New Year’s resolutions. I respect people who don’t do this sort of thing and feel that the new year is an arbitrary thing that shouldn’t effect them, but I find it pretty helpful as far as motivating myself and organizing my goals. So for my first blog post of the year, I’ve decided to list the few resolutions I’ve made this year! Next week, you’ll get to see a few photos from my Instax. For now, a few of my goals for 2018!

  1. Continue improving on my creative productivity. In 2017 I got a lot better about procrastination, but I still struggled a bit with planning ahead. I’m working on both planning out projects better but also not planning too much to work on at once. I can’t let myself get overwhelmed!
  2. Commit to healthy eating! I’m going to start planning my meals every week and cut sweets and fast food out of my diet. I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes last year and I want to kick it. I’ve made a lot of improvements and I think I can start making better progress with a solid meal plan!
  3. Less YouTube, less TV, and more reading! I love the YouTubers I watch and I love a lot of TV shows, but I just don’t have time in my schedule to keep up with all the stuff I want to watch. I’ve also wanted to get back into reading novels over the past few years and want to dedicate more time to that. I’ve always loved reading and want to fall in love with it again.
  4. Try to finish some of my massive backlog of video games. This one is less important overall, but I do love games and have a huge collection of unfinished games. With the exception of one or two of the TellTale games I’ve been interested in, I’m not going to allow myself to buy more games without finishing the one’s I already have. We’ll see how this one turns out, but I’m gonna make an effort!

2018 is going to be a year where I learn how to manage time and schedule things properly. I’m confident I can do the things I love and have time for leisure and hobbies. I want to find a good work/life balance this year. It’s going to be a challenge, but I’m up for it!
