I’m hoping to get some different kinds of stuff shot soon, but for now here’s a few more from my first day with the EOS M3! These are rocks that people paint down by the river here in Saskatoon. I love the colours and texture in these ones!
Our new podcast is up! I keep forgetting to post about it here, but here it is! We watched Muppets Tonight!
It’s late, but here it is! This week I’m posting some pictures of some interesting garbage I saw. I definitely like the second picture better. Kinda looks like some artsy junk with a deeper meaning, but I just liked the composition. And I couldn’t turn down the chance to photograph soemone’s discarded shoes.
Last weekend was Sask Expo here in Saskatoon, and on Sunday my good friend Matt and I took some photos and talked photography. Here are some of my favourite costumes from the expo!
My local photography shop has a back to school sale going on and they had a camera on for 50% off that, while not new, was a major upgrade from mine. It was pretty much the only thing within my price range that was any better than my t3i, so now I’m the proud owner of a Canon EOS M 3! It’s my first mirror less camera and it’s got a 24 megapixel sensor, six more than my old camera, and some faster video recording capabilities. The only bummer was that I had to shell out some extra cash for a lens adapter. Either way, I went out and took some photos around the area of Saskatoon I now live in. The pictures I took turned out pretty well so I’m definitely happy with the M3s photo capabilities. I was surprised to see how large the files were when I uploaded them before realizing that this camera has a setting for even higher resolution raw photos than the T3i did. I may have to lower the resolution setting next time ’cause these ones were pretty huge! I’m not sure when I am going to get out to take more pictures so I’m going to space these ones out a bit. So, here’s part one!
Not far from my apartment is the North Saskatchewan river. In the first photo I used my 50mm Canon lens to take a picture of a building. I don’t know what the building was, and architectural photography is definitely not my usual go to, but I thought I’d give it a shot. In the second picture I liked how the underside of the bridge kind of framed it. That picture was taken with my Rokinon 85mm and is my favourite of the few I snapped of this specific building.
I found a few other interesting things on my little walk, which I’ll be posting over the next couple weeks! Come back next Wednesday for more!
A couple weeks ago I went to the dog part with my friend Ben! It’s always tough taking pictures of bets since they love to run around so much. I did manage to get a few pictures of Freya as well as some other pooches that were running around!
Hey everyone! The newest episode of my nostalgia themed podcast is up! If you aren’t familiar, the idea behind Nostalgia 91 is that every week someone gets introduced for the first time to someone else’s childhood favourite. Whether it’s a TV show, a movie, or a video game, we discuss, critique, and often just gush over how much we love classic media. Although we were 90s kids, we had older sibling, cousins, and parents that introduced us to shows they loved as well so we discuss media from many different decades. This week we watched the Disney cartoon series Gargoyles and showed it to our friend Mayce. This podcast is a lot of fun for me and has grown into a bit of a passion project. I have a ton of fun recording it and would love it if you could check it out. If you could like and share it that would mean the world to me. Thank you so much!
